The Belittlement of the Blood of Jesus: Part 2

The Belittlement of the Blood of Jesus: Part 2

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Hebrews 13:20

A couple of weeks ago I asked the following question. Does your behavior belittle the blood of Jesus?

Now there are a plethora of passages that point to the power and perpetuity of work of the blood of Jesus in and on our lives.

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace

Ephesians 2:15 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Over again, the truth about the blood of Jesus is poured out abundantly in the word of God. But have you ever considered the truth that all behavior that is unbecoming of a believer can belittle the blood of Jesus?

Specifically, a walk (testimony) that walks over the witness of the blood of Jesus in our lives. The lost of the world need to witness the work of the blood of Jesus in and on our lives. Therefore, it’s imperative that we do a personal inventory and examination for any display of depreciation of the divine work of the blood of Jesus on our souls.  I will now respectfully record a list of attitudes and actions that display a demeaning disposition toward the blood of Jesus.

We belittle the witness and work of the blood of Jesus when we: assail the authority of the scriptures, commune and connect with a culture that has contempt for Christian convictions, when we license love that is lawless, marring and marginalizing marriage, attaching ourselves to anxiety, synching to self-centeredness, arrested by amusement and engulfed in excessive entertainment, punctuating our purpose of existence in pride as opposed to humility to the God of Heaven, harboring hatred , basking in bitterness, forsaking the call of forgiveness, investing in indulgences, staying silent about the slaughter of the innocents, persistent in pleasing men as opposed to God, adopting an attitude of apathy towards attending church, berating a biblical worldview, doubling down in deception, Spiritual leaders swimming in a stream of scandals, hooked to hypocrisy and decommissioning the great commission.

The list is not exhaustive, but a deliberate examination of the list should encourage us to be proactive in purging ourselves from the pollution of our souls with the power of the Spirit of God. Let us plead for forgiveness for belittling the witness and work of the Lord’s sacrifice in our lives. In the power of the Spirit, we will sanitize and wash our stained souls and thereby reveal to a rebellious and lost world the wonderful work and the miraculous power of the Blood of Jesus.

Not a sermon, just some thoughts.
